Iceland
Although Iceland can be the best environment for studying the novel virus because of the large number of cases per capita, it also has some unfortunate drawbacks. This podcast has it's usual host, joined today by Jelena Ciric, a journalist with the Iceland Review.
Because Iceland has a small population, it is imminently that it has the biggest number of infected per capita. For instance, we may also see this in the number of published books of citizens per capita, number of cities per capita and so on.
Furthermore, because they have a private medical care organisation which tests a plethora of people for COVID-19, even the asymptomatic, they achieved the number of tests they have. This had helped them understand how it spread throughout the island. Therefore, making it possible to put under statistics the spread rate and mortality rate this novel coronavirus has.
Using this method, they managed to find where the virus came from in their country and also predict who might contract it.
Because of the low number of people who are not in quarantine, the virus is not as likely to spread in the country. Furthermore, they use ways of alleviating the spread of the virus, similar to those in Romania and other countries. Airports have been closed, people are being put in quarantine for two weeks, and there are medical care personnel on standby if it may be needed. In comparison to other countries, Icelanders didn't close preschool and primary school because the work force is needed.
I personally think that Iceland is more calculated in a broader spectrum while not changing the paradigm in people's lives.
