An Unlikely Success Story

In the podcast of the 25th of March from the series "Don't Touch Your Face" the host talks about how a small country from Africa that is blatantly left behind in a plethora of ways, regarding Coronavirus is more effective than America and Europe. This country is Georgia!

For instance, they had completely stopped corruption with a breeze, after the Rose Revolution back in 2003. They also have a fast paperwork process. You can get a passport in just an hour which for Europeans and Americans seems out of this world. Furthermore, despite other internal problems, Georgians seem to be very effective at flattening the curve for COVID-19.

They have found very swift solutions to this knotty pandemic, in comparison to other countries. They had started a few weeks prior, back in the end of February, closing their borders with neighboring countries and schools being shut down in order to stop children from getting the novel virus.

Because of the bio lab they have in their country, panic and fear has gotten loose. We may see this because they don't rush as much as Americans do at buying dozens of groceries and utilities, toilet paper to be exact.

Moreover, Georgians have been more serene than the rest of the world about this pandemic given the fact that they have faced a plethora of problems, coming from wars and other economical problems which are far more ubiquitous than in Europe and America. I think that we can acquiesce on the fact that both youngsters and adults hadn't directly faced any problem regarding people's lives being at risk and that it is something novel for us than it is for Georgians.
