A Changing Global Paradigm

26.03.2020

If you only take a gaze at the world right now, the most blatant thing you are going to see regardless of the origin, gender, colour, is that most people are in quarantine because of the novel virus, Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Furthermore, one think that a plethora of people have in common is the 'cabin fever'. Cabin fever is an extreme irritability or restlessness from living in isolation for consecutive days.

After reading the given article by Nellie Bowles, on the 25th March, I got to understand the factors which engender cabin fever and how it affects people. Because it is ubiquitous all over the world, people who aren't affected by it, found swift solutions for cabin fever.

For instance, people who spent most of the time outside or didn't spend a lot of time at home prior to the quarantine, find it harder to adapt to staying all the time indoors. Moreover, people who have cabin fever have a lack of patience, social isolation or can't spend time at all with another human or animals. Some of them also fall into tedium.

"Some were even tired of seeing so much of their pets. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York said on Sunday: "I live alone. I'm even getting annoyed with the dog, being in one place.""

Furthermore, people who had thought that they could have spent more time with their loved ones were unfortunately deceived.

"Ms. Geller thought maybe she would have extra time with her husband, Mike Geller. But the only private time they have had was when they "literally hid" from their children in a back room the other day, she said."

I honestly think that we should continue maintaining balance, tolerance and support in times of need. For instance, while some people think that it is a major struggle to spend time inside with their family and animals , I see it as an opportunity to be grateful for the fact that I can say that a have a loving family altogether. This makes a balance from being quarantined and having to respect the measures.

We should all acquiesce on the fact that we won't be as frightened if we stay at home around our beloved ones than coming home from outside exposing both you and your family to the virus. This way we are going to enhance the panic around our family. Therefore, I think that we should all think that being inside is one of our responsibilities or even jobs for the time being.

Given the above mentions, we can balance this virus only with ourselves. We shouldn't be headstrong and we must get along with this 'cabin fever' because this way support and tolerance will get build up whilst inside.
